Friday June 13, 2008
In a recession, one might assume that less money is being spent on plastic surgery. However, that is not entirely true. In today's youth-obsessed society, those looking to hold onto their jobs or to move up the corporate ladder may look at plastic surgery as an investment in the future of their careers. It is a subject of some debate, but several studies have held that the spoils of the corporate world (i.e., coveted positions, promotions) often go to the best-looking or youngest candidates.
So where does this leave the average Joe or Jane looking to get ahead? Often, it leads to the plastic surgeon's door for a little nip here or a little tuck there. Botox, brow lifts, and even liposuction are common for those looking to imrpove upon their outward professional image. Of course, improving one's looks can't replace hard work, education, or talent...but many people seem to feel it couldn't hurt!
