In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Bruce Jenner and his wife, Kris Kardashian, spoke up about his plastic surgery, the reasons behind it, and the media response.
Acccording to Bruce, he had a face lift and rhinoplasty in 1984. He says he was going through a tough time, including a nasty divorce, when he decided to undergo surgery to rejuvenate his face. His wife says she thinks he had very low self-esteem at the time.
The Jenner-Kardashian clan is not shy about discussing plastic surgery. Nor are they afraid to talk about how the media has portrayed Bruce's physical transformation. Jenner casually points out that his name will likely come up if you google "the worst plastic surgeries of all time", and says that his transformation has been compared in the media to that of Michael Jackson. In fact, the media has speculated that Bruce had even more surgery since his makeover in 1984.
Recently the world was witness (on the family's reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians) to his decision to undergo corrective plastic surgery. His goal, he says, was to "fix" the results of his previous surgery. Understandably, Jenner was anxious about the procedure, fearing the possibility that he would look 'even worse' afterward. He now claims to be satisifed with his results, and was seen this month on the red carpet looking certainly no worse for wear after his surgery (see photo, above).
In this writer's opinion, he didn't look that bad before, and his recent surgery yielded only very small changes. Jenner hasn't specified exactly what procedures were included in his recent surgery, but both his eyes and neck appear subtly lifted.
Bruce doesn't say in the AH interview whether or not he would ever go under the knife again. His step-daughter, Kim Kardashian, however, says that she will 'probably have a lift' after she has kids. Kim also believes that it's time for her mother, Kris, to have a neck lift.
