No Plastic Surgery for Octomom? Yeah, Right.

From Natalie Kita, About.com Guide   January 27, 2010

Follow me on:

Nadya Suleman not only wants the whole world to see her new bod, but she wants us to believe it was accomplished solely through weight training and a healthy lifestyle - no nips or tucks, honest-to-gosh. In her exclusive Star Magazine photo spread, the infamous octomom shows off her 150-lb weight loss (in under a year), complete with a totally flat tummy. And here's the kicker: no stretch marks and no loose belly skin. Sorry, Ms. Suleman, but nature simply does not work that way.

I might be able to buy that she hasn't had liposuction. Good genetics, a healthy diet, and exercise can go a long way. And since she was appropriately covered on top in her photos, I couldn't say for certain that there was a breast lift or augmentation. (Perhaps it was just a deceptively supportive bikini top.)

Here's the sticking point: When your skin has been stretched out enough to acommodate eight babies at once living inside of you, it defies all logic and known medical fact to believe there will ever be a flat and stretch mark-free tummy in your future without the benefit of surgical intervention.

We've all seen Ms Suleman's pregnant belly photos, right? Where did those stretch marks go? At the very least, she could lend some believability to her story by admitting to a tummy tuck and laser treatment for the stretch marks. At age 34, having carried and birthed 14 children, no amount of good genetics in the world will give you that kind of magical skin elasticity and self-repairing ability.

Of course, I am not privy to Nadya Suleman's medical records, so I could be wrong. (To quote Dr. Phil, "I'm not, but I could be.") Then again, I suppose it's possible that the credit for her amazing transformation should go not to Octomom or her plastic surgeon, but to the Photoshop wizards over at Star Magazine?

Disagree with my assessment? Leave a comment and tell me why. And if you believe that Nadya Suleman has not been nipped and/or tucked, please leave your email address, because I have some swampland in Never Never Land I'd like to sell you.

She’s been busted big time for lying about this by a journalist that investigated:

Extensive plastic surgeries, and a lap band.
Also, this article doesn’t mention the leg liposuction and excess skin removal scars that have been noticed on some enhanced photos. As if the tummy tuck and breast lift weren’t enough.

I have 2 children and never put on as much as weight as Octomom. I’m 24 and small built and weight 115 right now (trying to lose 15 pds from the holidays) and my stomach don’t look as good as hers. I take care of my body and even as a dancer who works out 6 hrs straight in high heels my stomach cant even lose that extra skin. I think she is a fake!

Shame on Star magazine to print such an article. There is NO WAY she did this through diet and exercise. First of all, how do you have time to exercise? I have 9 month old twins and cannot find the time to strength train and exercise. And how on earth did those stretch marks ‘disappear’ and your belly bounce back like that? IMPOSSIBLE and DISGUSTING. This woman is an awful person — spending that money Dr. Phil gave her for the kids on herself. He should be ashamed of himself as well. Think if I contact him about our suprise unplanned twin pregnancy at 39 he’d help me out? We now have three kids and we could use help. Guess that’s not freaky enough for him to help.

I love the Dr. Phil quote- it’s right on the mark.

Her mouth piece lawyer is saying that neither she nor Star magazine photoshopped the pics. All logic aside, it was POLARIS who owns the pics and most likely did the photoshopping (gives plausible deniablity to both Suleman and Star).

Oh, just dawned on me. Using suleman speak – the photos weren’t photoshopped because they used Corel editing software…

And speaking of the breast augmentation- there is medical documentation of her having it done (it’s listed as part of her past medical history in her workers comp docs…)

Talking about plastic surgery? What is missing in this picture? How about reconstructive plastic surgery for her son who exhibits a cleft palate in the recent Star magazine photo. I am not a medical professional, but isn’t timing of cleft palate repair critical–usually at birth or before a year old–so effects on eating, midface growth, hearing and speech development not to mention development of self esteem are optimized? This is the real triumph of plastic surgery, improving the quality of life.

I couldn’t agree more, MM. One would think that getting her son’s cleft lip / palate repaired would be a priority over her own cosmetic concerns. But then again, one would have thought that taking care of her existing six children would have taken priority over paying for fertility treatments to conceive eight more. Of course, I don’t personally know that he has not already had stage one of a multi-stage procedure already completed. He is only one year old, so there may have been healing time needed from one surgery before proceeding to another. You are right in that cleft palate repair should be completed early in life, although there are different schools of thought on just how early (varying from 10 weeks of age all the way up to 18 months). See this article for more information on the best age for cleft palate / cleft lip repair.

If you go to the website “Stop Nadya” they have the untouched photos from Star magazine and it’s obvious that she has a scar that wraps around her entire body from a radical tummy tuck. Her bellybutton is definately man made thus proves her to be the liar we always thought her to be and alwasy will be. And to think she bashed Kate for having it done then for being seen on the beach in a bikini swearing he would NEVER do that. Did I mention she’s not only a liar but a hypocrite as well?
