Plastic Surgery Complication - Permanent Blindness

Cosmetic injections with dermal fillers such as Juvéderm, Restylane, Perlane, Radiesse, collagen, etc. and fat injections to the face are usually quite innocuous. However, there is one extremely rare and devastating complication of which many people who have facial enhancement with injections may be unaware. This is the complication of permanent blindness.

According to a study published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, 12 patients had a sudden loss of vision after cosmetic injections to the face. The outcomes were worse after injections with fat.
