The surgeon does not have references readily available. If the surgeon says hell have to get back to you about references, he may be trying to put you off until you forget about it, or he may want time to call around and check to make sure that his references will be saying something good about him. A great surgeon will have a ready list of patients who are happy with his work, and will be more than willing to have you hear all their glowing reports right away.
You simply get a bad feeling about the surgeon. How many times have you said to yourself, I should have listened to my instincts? Of course, you dont want to find yourself saying that after the bandages come off. Even if there are no specific behaviors that you can point to as the reason for your discomfort, remember to listen to that little voice or gut feeling that tells you when something just isnt right. Its always better to be safe than sorry.
