Keloid Scar

Definition: Overgrowth of scar tissue at the site of a healed skin injury.

In contrast to a hypertrophic scar, which remains within the boundaries of the original injury, a keloid may grow beyond those boundaries. While hypertrophic scars typically regress over time, keloids generally do not.
